I feel pretty.

i was thinking before about this cordless phone we had when i was a kid. dad always had like the first of every electronic gadget that was ever made...we had a vcr before anyone i knew, a cd player, the cordless phone...anyway it was a behemoth with this antenna you had to put up to talk on it...and sometimes it would ring when someone outside started their car or something.

we've come so far.

in other news, sounds like there's going to be a world war, i'm turning 30 next week, and i worked for 14 hours today, today being the 8th day of 13 straight days that i will have worked by this friday, each of these days averaging at least 10 hours apiece (and i don't get overtime anymore, either). in the last week i have dealt with frozen pipes (twice) which then thawed, cracked, and spewed water (twice), a clogged toilet which backed up and essentially made it rain in the kitchen, which also damaged the fire alarm system (thankfully, pretty quickly fixed), people committing to work certain hours and then cancelling, leaving me to cover them, people wanting days off that i just can't possibly give them, not to mention that i haven't taken a day off since november, and being told that i am 'very mean' because i felt that grocery shopping took precedence over taking someone to dunkin donuts. yeah, i do suck, don't i. happy new year.

i challenge you to look at this picture and not miss the 80s.

he was so...young, and...thin...

also: vh1's I Love the 80s. what a funny show. i watched 1989 earlier tonight and laughed very loudly. mostly when they talked about milli vanilli. with their spandex pants and their bad dance moves. i think that i can honestly say that, despite my historical weakness for bad pop music, i never liked them.

though i did see them 'live' once. on some mtv tour. them, and tone loc, and...uh....someone else. i had really only gone to see information society.

man. there is a website for everything: it was the Club MTV Party-to-Go Tour, starring Paula Abdul and 'up-and-coming stars Tone-Loc, Milli-Vanilli, Was (Not Was), and Information Society.' and of course, that irritating Downtown Julie Brown woman. ah, the 80s. if only MC Hammer had been there...

while i'm on the nostalgia kick, here's a picture i discovered way deep down in the recesses of the mac: me a few years ago (not the 80s, but may as well be for as far back as it seems), in my cooler, gother, blonder days...

and with that, i'm off to bed.
