good god, what a fucking week that was. first time in a long time that work kept me jumping for 40 solid hours. it was kind of good. :)
my big plan today, saturday, is doing the literally probably 8 loads of laundry that have been piling higher and higher for a couple weeks now. and, perhaps, throwing out some clothes i don't wear, because every time i look in my TWO DRESSERS AND LARGE CLOSET, i feel that i have far too much clothing, and i want to have less. this has always been one of my life's goals. someday i will achieve it!
yeah. had lots of yummy iced coffee today too.

MSN Encarta - On This Day In History: "1822: English poet Percy Bysshe Shelley drowns at age 29 while sailing in a storm off the coast of Italy. "

awwww. poor percy. in his honor, let's read a little Ozymandias, shall we? yes we shall. cause i loves me some Ozymandias, yes i do.

Ozymandias

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: `Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed.
And on the pedestal these words appear --
"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.'

Percy Bysshe Shelley
Kanye West - Jesus Walks.

every morning while eating my cereal, i watch a little tv. when channel 5's morning show gets boring (like when they talk about news...i like them usually because they are such happy people, and so unconcerned with reporting actual news), i switch to MTV and VH1. which is interesting because the same videos are on every morning (it's like clockwork, just amazing), and one currently on rotation is Kanye West's Jesus Walks. and i just wanted to point it out here because man, is it a striking video, and a striking song. well, i think so, anyway. the link above shows three versions of the video; i'd only seen the 'Chris Milk version,' but, now that i've seen all of them, i think they're all interesting. even though, the one where jesus literally follows him around, well, is that supposed to be...funny? i'm not sure.

anyway, you know, i'm not the hugest rap fan, but this song has been sticking in my head. oh and here are lyrics if you want to read them.

i am going to make a big admission here. one that may alienate some of my (two or three) readers, but i feel that i have to say it: i dislike the word veggie. there is something too cutesy about it that just grates on my nerves. they are vegetables, people. not playthings. that is all, thank you.
aahahahha! ok, stupid, but funny.

Pog mo thoin - 'Kiss my ass.'You're one tough bastard, and if anyone doesn't like it, they can kiss your ass. You enjoy fighting and causing grievous bodily harm. Hey! What are you lookin' at, punk?"
bizarre, but of course i love it.
ok this warrants me actually spelling it out this time: what the FUCK is this about?

Yahoo! News - World Photos - AP: "US Secretary of State Colin Powell (news - web sites) performs a version of the Village People hit disco song 'YMCA' at the conclusion of Asia's largest security meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Friday July 2, 2004. Powell took to the stage, dressed as a construction worker Friday, with other unidentified US diplomats to deliver their rendition of the 1970's hit song to an audience of Asia Security meeting delegates."

i mean...embarrassing for our nation? doesn't he have bigger things to worry about, say, the fact that much of the rest of the world hates us? this is no time to be doing karaoke, colin!

anyone? am i alone in this? hello?

have i been living in a cave? why did i not know that Marlon Brando died yesterday?

yes he was a fat, crazy old man in later years (much later--i had NO idea he was 80 already) but how can you not look at him as a young man and not think all sorts of greedy thoughts? as i've often said, he must have looked at pictures of himself in A Streetcar Named Desire later in his life and just wept.

ah, well. RIP Marlon.
